The Cadet Unit Program

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office has partnered with the Public Safety Cadets national non-profit organization to offer a cadet program for young adults, ages 14-20 (until 21st birthday), to prepare them for careers and leadership in the public safety profession.

 

This program will provide classroom as well as hands-on practical training. In addition to law enforcement training, cadets will receive education and experience in public speaking, interviewing, resume building, and other life skills necessary to enter the workforce.  

Monthly Meetings

Cadet Unit 1218 meets on Tuesday nights at 6 p.m. The frequency of meetings does fluctuate between every Tuesday, or every other Tuesday, depending on the schedule. These meetings can include guest speakers, tours, classroom, practical scenarios, competitions, and physical training. 

Membership Requirements & Procedures
  • Have good moral character and personal habits

  • Must be 14-20 years of age

  • Comply with all rules and regulations of the post's operational manual

  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA
