If you are the registered owner, you must visit the Frederick County Sheriff's Office at 110 Airport Drive East in Frederick and show valid state ID to get a vehicle release form.
If you are not the registered owner, you must provide a notarized letter from the registered owner stating you, the individual, are allowed to pick up the release form. You must provide proper valid state ID.

If you are looking for reports and/or information that you were not directly involved with, you will need to file a request citing the Maryland Public Information Act. Visit the Public Information Requests page for more info. The Frederick County Sheriff's Office has 30 days to comply with this request.

You must appear in person with a driver’s license or valid identification with your current address.
Your address needs to be within the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office jurisdiction. If you live within Frederick City limits you need to contact the Frederick City Police at 301-600-2101.
We do not do letters for individuals from other counties.
