Deputies Recover Stolen Firearm and Drugs During Arrest in Frederick

FREDERICK, Md. (February 3, 2026) – On February 1, 2026, at approximately 5:37 p.m., a Frederick County Sheriff’s Office deputy conducted a traffic stop in the area of East Street and East Patrick Street.


During the stop, a rear-seat passenger was identified as Jamar Harvey, 21, of Frederick, who had multiple active warrants through the Frederick Police Department, including warrants related to First Degree Assault and several firearms-related charges.


Harvey was placed under arrest for the outstanding warrants. A search of a backpack in Harvey’s possession revealed a Glock 22 .40-caliber handgun, later confirmed to have been stolen out of Richmond, V.A., a large amount of U.S. currency, a quantity of suspected crack cocaine, Promethazine, and various drug paraphernalia.


Harvey was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center and is charged with the following:


  • Reg firearm: stolen/sell etc. – felony

  • Assault weapon/mag. use – misdemeanor

  • Firearm use/fel-viol crime – misdemeanor

  • Loaded handgun on person – misdemeanor

  • Handgun on person – misdemeanor

  • Loaded handgun in vehicle – misdemeanor

  • Handgun in vehicle – misdemeanor

  • Firearm/drug traf crime – felony

  • CDS: distr etc. w/firearm – felony

  • CDS: poss w/i dist: narc – felony

  • CDS: poss w/int to dist – felony

  • CDS: possess-not cannabis – misdemeanor

  • CDS: poss paraphernalia – misdemeanor

  • CDS: possess-not cannabis – misdemeanor
