Fatal Pedestrian Collision Under Investigation

FREDERICK, Md. (June 1, 2026) –On May 29, 2026, at approximately 6:22 p.m., deputies from the Frederick County Sheriff's Office responded to the area of Bethel Road and White Rock Avenue for a reported pedestrian-involved collision.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Vung Sian, 46, of Frederick, was walking near the right side of the lane, southbound on Bethel Road in the area of White Rock Avenue, when she was struck by a 2011 Nissan Altima traveling southbound. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with investigators by providing a statement.

Personnel from the Division of Fire and Rescue Services (DFRS) responded to the scene and performed life-saving measures; however, Sian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Preliminary findings indicate that neither drugs nor alcohol appears to have been a contributing factor in the collision. Additionally, excessive speed does not appear to have been a factor.
