FCSO Arrests Man in Burglary and Arson Investigation

FREDERICK, Md. (May 15, 2026) –The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) has arrested a Calvert County man following an investigation into a commercial burglary and suspected arson that occurred earlier this month in Jefferson, Maryland.
On May 3, 2026, deputies responded to a reported commercial burglary at a business located in the 4100 block of Lander Road in Jefferson. Numerous items were reported stolen from the property, including a skid steer, zero-turn mower, flatbed trailer, machinery, construction materials, and tools.
On May 4, 2026, deputies and personnel from the Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services responded to the same location for a building fire. Fire Marshals and detectives investigating the incident determined the fire was likely intentionally set, and arson was suspected.
During the investigation, detectives learned that some of the stolen property may have been transported to Calvert County. Detectives coordinated with the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, who confirmed that property matching the description of the stolen items appeared to be located on private property near Prince Frederick, Maryland.
Later that evening, additional investigative developments led detectives to believe the stolen property may be discarded or destroyed overnight. Investigators subsequently obtained a search warrant for a property located in the 100 block of Armory Road in Prince Frederick.
At approximately 3:00 a.m. on May 14, 2026, deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office and detectives from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office executed the search warrant. During the search, investigators recovered approximately $50,000 worth of stolen property connected to the Frederick County burglary investigation.
David Roberts, 34, of Prince Frederick, MD, was arrested at the scene and transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center. Roberts has been charged with:
· Second-Degree Burglary
· Second-Degree Arson
· First-Degree Malicious Burning
· Theft: $25,000 – $100,000
