FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FREDERICK, Md. (March 26, 2025) – The Frederick County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) is investigating a series of vehicle thefts and tampering incidents that happened on March 23, 2025, in Mount Airy, Green Valley, and Monrovia.
At approximately 6:17 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a stolen Nissan Altima in the 12000 block of Quiet Stream Court. During the investigation, it was determined that multiple vehicles in the area had been entered and tampered with. Additional incidents of vehicle tampering from the same day were reported at residences on Sandra Lee Court, Walnutwood Court, and Haven Park Circle.
The stolen Nissan Altima, equipped with a personal tracking device, was located in Anne Arundel County with assistance from the Anne Arundel County Police. The suspect later crashed the vehicle at Furnace Branch Road East and Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Linthicum Heights, Md., where a juvenile suspect was taken into custody.
Further investigation revealed that two other vehicles seen in the area with the stolen Nissan Altima had also been reported stolen. One vehicle stolen from Dunkirk, MD, was recovered, while the suspect in a stolen black BMW from Monrovia fled the area.
The FCSO reminds all residents to lock their vehicles, remove valuables, and avoid leaving keys inside to prevent theft. Criminals often target unlocked vehicles.
Charges for the juvenile suspect were referred to the Department of Juvenile Services.
