FREDERICK, Md. (June 20, 2025)— On Monday, June 16, 2025, at approximately 11 PM, Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) deputies responded to a report of a possible abduction in progress in the area of New Design Road.

The initial 911 call came from a woman who reported that her sister had just been abducted by a male suspect and that she was attempting to follow the vehicle.

Through the investigation, deputies learned that the victim had been involved in a domestic dispute inside a vehicle with her boyfriend, identified as Devan Marshall Fyke, 32, of Charlestown, West Virginia. Fyke reportedly began driving erratically in an apparent attempt to scare the victim. She attempted to exit the vehicle multiple times but was physically restrained by Fyke. During the incident, Fyke also took her phone and threw it out of the window.

Fyke eventually let the victim out of the vehicle near Buckeystown Pike and English Muffin Way in Frederick. She was able to borrow a phone from a passerby and call for help. Deputies located the victim a short time later, and she requested to be transported to the hospital.

Deputies later located Fyke at the Sheetz in Brunswick, where they confirmed he had an active warrant for an unrelated incident. He was taken into custody and charged in connection with this incident.

Fyke is charged as follows:

  • Assault in the Second Degree

  • False Imprisonment

  • Theft ($100–$1,500)

  • Malicious Destruction of Property (less than $1,000)

Fyke was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center and then released on his own recognizance.

This case remains under investigation. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office at 301-600-1046.
