Five Arrested Following Reported Home Invasion and Assault in Mount Airy

Mount Airy, Md. (October 7, 2026) – On Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at approximately 12:21 a.m., deputies from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 14400 block of Black Ankle Road in Mount Airy for a reported assault involving several individuals and the reported discharge of a firearm.


Upon arriving, deputies observed a white GMC Yukon fleeing the scene. Deputies stopped the vehicle and found five individuals inside, identified as Jeremiah Michael Mayhew, 19, of Libertytown, Md.; Joshua Lee Mayhew Jr., 20, of Libertytown, Md.; Destin Jerrell Braxton, 18, of Frederick, Md.; Brennen Tyler Summers, 23, of Frederick, Md.; and a 16-year-old juvenile male.


A loaded 9mm handgun was found on the rear passenger-side floorboard, and loose ammunition matching the firearm was also located in Joshua Mayhew Jr.’s pocket.


Deputies responded to the victim’s residence and spoke with the victim, who reported that the suspects forcibly entered the home while armed with a handgun and assaulted him inside the residence.


All five individuals were arrested. Four adults were transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center. The juvenile was transported to the Law Enforcement Center for processing pursuant to Department of Juvenile Services procedures.


Charges for the involved individuals include first-degree assault, second-degree assault, handgun violations, and home invasion.
