Follow-Up: Frederick Police Department Crash Investigation on S. East Street

FREDERICK, Md. (April 9, 2026) – Today, at approximately 12:50 a.m., a Frederick County Sheriff’s Office deputy observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, exceeding 100 miles per hour, on Interstate 70 in the area of the Monocacy River. The deputy was unable to catch up to the vehicle due to its speed.


The vehicle and the deputy exited the highway onto Monocacy Boulevard and continued onto East Patrick Street, at which point the vehicle was a significant distance ahead. In the area of East Patrick Street and East Street, the deputy lost sight of the vehicle.


At approximately 12:53 a.m., the deputy came upon the vehicle involved in a single-vehicle collision with multiple injuries in the area of S. East Street and the roundabout. The Frederick Police Department was requested to the scene for assistance.


The Frederick Police Department is conducting the crash reconstruction investigation.

The Independent Investigations Division of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General was notified and briefed on the incident and declined to investigate at this time.
