Frederick Man Arrested in Firearms Investigation

FREDERICK, Md. (March 5, 2026) – On March 5, 2026, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant in the 100 block of W. South Street in Frederick as part of an ongoing firearms investigation.

During the search, detectives located and seized a stolen handgun that had been equipped with a fully automatic conversion device, making it capable of firing as a machine gun. Deputies also recovered a Draco-style handgun, ammunition, and cannabis.

Detectives arrested Josiah Dante James-Moore, 18, of Frederick, who is prohibited from possessing firearms. He was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.

James-Moore has been charged with the following offenses:

·         Regulated Firearm – Illegal Possession (2 counts)

·         Possession of Firearm by Minor (2 counts)

·         Possession of Machine Gun with Aggressive Purpose

·         Possession of Rapid Fire Trigger Activator

·         Regulated Firearm: Stolen

·         Illegal Possession of Ammunition

·         Possession with Intent to Distribute Cannabis

·         Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Cannabis
