FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FREDERICK, Md. (December 6, 2024) – On Thursday, December 5, 2024, Deputies from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office were participating in an operation conducting a proactive criminal interdiction. At approximately 9:12 PM, Deputies stopped a Volkswagen Routan traveling in the area of I-70 West at Monocacy Blvd. with six occupants inside, for moving and equipment violations. After observing drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle, deputies searched the van and the six occupants.
Deputies assisting recovered a loaded .45 caliber pistol, approximately 264 grams of suspected cocaine, approximately 100 grams of suspected heroin, and other drug paraphernalia. All six vehicle occupants were arrested and transported to central booking for processing.
“Looking at the addresses of those arrested is a clear indication of ongoing illegal drug activity routed through Frederick County between Baltimore and western Maryland. Interstate 70 has long been an established pipeline for intra-state trafficking. The armed individuals involved in the transport of illegal drugs only heighten the threat to law enforcement and the public. Interdiction efforts like this continue to be effective in attacking the drug trafficking problem,” Sheriff Jenkins.
