Search Warrants Lead to Firearms and Drug Arrests in Jefferson Place Neighborhood

FREDERICK, Md. (November 3, 2025) –This morning, as part of an ongoing investigation into the illegal possession of firearms, Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) Detectives executed search warrants at two residences in the Jefferson Place neighborhood in Frederick. Both search warrants were carried out simultaneously.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team executed one search warrant at a residence in the 5900 block of Jefferson Commons Way. Once the residence was secured, FCSO Detectives conducted a search of the home and associated vehicles. Detectives located and seized a rifle, a handgun, numerous magazines, ammunition, cannabis products, U.S. currency, and other associated evidence.
18-year-old Benjamin Daniel Orellana Waltemath was arrested on scene and transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center (FCADC). As part of this investigation, it was also determined that Orellana Waltemath possessed a firearm inside Frederick High School in October 2025.
He is charged with the following offenses:
· (2 counts) Illegal possession of a regulated firearm
· (2 counts) Possession of a firearm by a minor
· Handgun in vehicle
· Loaded handgun in vehicle
· Possession of firearm without serial number
· Illegal possession of ammunition
· Deadly weapon on school property
· Possession with intent to distribute – cannabis
At the same time, the Frederick Police Department Special Response Team executed a search warrant at a residence in the 6100 block of Jefferson Pike. Once the residence was secured, FCSO Detectives conducted a search of the home and associated vehicles. Detectives located and seized a handgun with an obliterated serial number, ammunition, and other associated evidence.
Julius Carter Benjamin, 16, is being charged as an adult in connection with these offenses. He was arrested on scene and transported to the FCADC, where he was charged with:
· Possession of a firearm by a minor
· Alter firearm identification number
· Conspiracy: possession with intent to distribute – cannabis
The Frederick Police Department supported the operation by executing one of the search warrants and working alongside FCSO Detectives throughout the investigation.
