Thurmont Man Arrested for Sexual Solicitation of a Minor

FREDERICK, Md. (August 7, 2025)—On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, detectives with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit arrested a Thurmont man following an investigation into online sexual solicitation of minors.

The investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) generated a cybertip regarding the sexual solicitation of a minor. Detectives launched an investigation and identified the suspect as Travis Peters, 27, of Thurmont, Maryland.

Detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Dogwood Avenue in Thurmont, where numerous electronic devices were seized for forensic analysis.

Peters was arrested and charged with the following:

·         Three (3) counts of Sexual Solicitation of a Minor

·         Two (2) counts of Child Pornography Solicitation

·         Three (3) counts of Distribution of Obscene Matter to a Minor

The FCSO Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit works in partnership with the Frederick County Cyber Crimes Task Force with a mission to investigate, apprehend, and prosecute internet sexual predators who exploit children using the internet and technology, consistent with Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force standards and procedures.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation, as detectives are working to identify other minors Peters may have communicated with.
