Walkersville Man Arrested for Murder

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WALKERSVILLE, Md. (June 24, 2025)—On Sunday, June 22, 2025, at approximately 10:05 a.m., deputies from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the 8400 block of Foresight Lane in Walkersville for a report of an unconscious person.
Upon arrival, deputies located 68-year-old Christine Liboula deceased inside the residence. Deputies immediately began a death investigation. On Monday, June 23, an autopsy was conducted at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore. Preliminary autopsy results indicate the manner of death as homicide, with injuries consistent with strangulation and blunt force trauma.
Detectives served a search warrant at the Foresight Lane residence and detained 35-year-old Pavel Obambe, the victim’s son-in-law. He was taken for questioning as part of the investigation.
Preliminary investigation revealed that on the night of Saturday, June 21, Obambe assaulted another adult female in the home, where all three individuals resided. Liboula attempted to intervene during the assault. The female victim left later that night, while Liboula remained and was found deceased by family members the following morning.
Obambe was arrested on Tuesday, June 24, and transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center. He is charged as follows:
First-Degree Murder
Second-Degree Murder
Second-Degree Assault
False Imprisonment
At this time, investigators believe there are no additional suspects involved. The Frederick Police Department and the Child Advocacy Center assisted with the investigation.
